About Us

The West Georgia Shutterbugs is a Photo Club that was created as an offshoot of West Georgia Photography Club.

The West Georgia Shutterbugs
welcomes all photographers - from beginner to professional, both digital and film. All it takes is a passion for photography! The club’s purpose is to educate, encourage and expand the photographic knowledge and capabilities of its members.

The club meets the second Monday of each month with meet at 6:30 PM at the Neva Lomason Memorial Library, 710 Rome Street, Carrollton, Ga. 30117.

Club business is conducted during the first half each meeting. During this time, “shoots”, workshops and exhibitions are planned and coordinated. The second half of each meeting is devoted to “show and tell” time, where members bring in their work for display and/or critique. The Shutterbugs strive for fun and fellowship in an atmosphere conducive to asking questions and sharing knowledge. We learn a lot from each other’s point of view. Plus a monthly Photo contest is held with members judging the pictures. Points are given to the winners for an award at the end of the year for "Best Photographer of the Year".

“Shoots” are planned which provide great opportunities for exploring beautiful sites throughout the state of Georgia and beyond, as well as unique opportunities for learning from each other.

“Workshops” may include post production Photoshop techniques, matting and framing, exhibition strategies, landscape photography, studio lighting, time lapse and many others. We organize workshops around current member interests.

“Exhibits” of various kinds offer members an opportunity to share work with the West Georgia community. Over the past year, we have displayed at the Cultural Arts Center, West Georgia Regional Library and other government buildings, local restaurants and galleries, and at several Festivals in Georgia. Works can also be viewed on our website. Through these venues, our photographs can be offered for sale.

“Website” Many of our members have their own personal website where many pictures may be viewed. This is an on going learning of technology and we share knowledge of changes in the technologies to improve our sites.

Visitors are invited to join us at the meetings.
